The City of Jackson charged Carlton Engineering to conduct Phase I and II environmental assessments to fulfill state special-project funding requirements. Carlton was to recommend remediation and/or disposition of designated waste material.
Carlton Engineering designed an in-place cement treatment of mine mill tailings to bind the metals-laden sand into a solid inert cement mixture. Carlton’s approach avoided costly excavation, transportation and disposal.
