Carlton was contracted by Battelle's Eastern Science & Technology Center to provide independent expert peer review of the West Bank and Vicinity's Project Description Document and Alternative Evaluation Process for providing 100-Year Level of protection to the Harvey and Algiers Canals. Carlton lent it's structural engineering expertise to review and evaluate options presented by the US Corps of Engineers for providing this protection and in concert with other experts ultimately validated the Corps decision making process. The end result is the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway West Closure Complex, a major component of the Greater New Orleans Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System.
